‪Varshavianka – Red Army Choir
Language – Russian

This evening I watched the Coen Brothers’ film ‘Hail Caesar’. An enjoyable romp, with a clever link to the days of Blacklisting in the film studios. A bunch of Communist screen writers kidnap George Clooney’s character to try and regain from the studios the money they, as workers, should have received for their toil. Bit of a spoiler there, oops!

At the end of this film, during the credits, was today’s tune, beautifully sung by The Red Army  Choir.  If you take the time to read the information beneath the YouTube video, you will discover that the song is actually Polish in origin. And considering the subject matter of ‘Hail Caesar’, very appropriate lyrics indeed.
