17th January 2015: Goblin – Tenebre (Main Title)

Language – Italian

Translation – Darkness

I love the films of Dario Argento.  The earlier ones were enhanced by the music of Ennio Morricone, and also the group Goblin, who always managed to accurately depict via sound the absolute fear of being chased by a maniac.  Obviously, a really disturbing, knife-wielding one…

I am not sure what it is about the extravagance of the keyboard sounds or the phasing or the bombastic nature of their music, but it is just perfect for these films, and together with the extraordinary visual elements that Argento uses, they combine to make some of the best horror films ever.
